Heritage Center Dwellingup Forest is situated between the South and Western Australia's Jarrah forest is our one of our local species Eaucalyptus of Australia.
We offer guided tours in the Forest Heritage Center, Dwellingup, and part of the tour is to educate people about the great variety of flora and fauna.
The marginata is named Eaucalyptus margin defined by the inside edge of the leaf and 'Jarrah' is the aboriginal name this gum tree.
The Jarrah was once known as the Swan River Mahogany in 1800 and as the name suggests the wood may vary in color from clear orange / brown color pink to deep red / brown burgundy.
Flowering Jarrah have a cream colored potruding corymb shaped flower of a small fruit conical in shape, when the flower is spent and finished fruiting, the fruit often falls in the forest floor and is a small round shaped gumnut that can be used in arts and crafts.
The honey that bees produce from this flower is a rich deep red and has a wonderful rich flavor. Wood dense deposit of Jarrah is highly prized in furniture manufacturing and construction are used worldwide.
Jarrah can be found in old streets of London and Berlin, as cobblestone paving, and Jarrah is used worldwide in the docks, piers and sleepers for railways.
Jarrah is a dense, strong wood that is resistant to termites and resistant to marine pest species such as marine species Boras or some species of marine worms.
Jarrahs bark 'has insulating qualities that protect the tree of our frequent fires, (Austalian bush needs fire to regenerate), but when a fire is fierce and destroys the tree, Jarrah lignotubers has been adapted for having connected to the system from underground roots and these are a source of energy that can sprout a new tree.

This tree along with Australian flora and fauna can be spotted when you walk our Jarrah / Marri forest tree canopy and our standing in the top
Forest Heritage Center, Dwellingup.
Hope see you soon!
